Violist Leanne Maitland is an active chamber musician, orchestral player, soloist, teacher, and adjudicator in the Edmonton area.

Leanne performs regularly with the Obsessions Octet, Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra of Edmonton. . She is also a member of the Chickadee String Quartet and Vif String Quartet. Other projects include touring Europe with the Obsessions Octet, playing at the Citadel Theatre, with Early Music Alberta, Alberta Baroque Ensemble, Enterprise String Quartet, the Bicycle Symphony at the Kaleido Arts Festival, SkirtsAFire festival, Dead Red Pine, and Plexoos Ensemble, and organizing Phil Kline’s Unsilent Night in Edmonton.

Leanne is a viola, violin, and chamber music instructor at her home studio in west Edmonton. She has completed Level 4 teacher training from the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and has taught for over 15 years. Leanne has adjudicated at the St. Albert Rotary Music Festival, the Olds & District Kiwanis Music Festival, Kalyna Music Festival, and the Fort Saskatchewan Music Festival.

Previously, Leanne has played with the National Academy Orchestra, Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, at the Banff CentreDomaine Forget Chamber Music program and the Montreal International String Quartet Academy. She also toured France with the Ganesh String Quartet.

She has studied at the University of Alberta (Dr. Aaron Au), Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester (Prof. George Taylor), and Schulich School of Music, McGill University (André Roy).
